If you haven't already, you should run buy this book immediately for its creativity and artwork. I read a ton of picture books, and I am here to tell you, William Joyce is one of the best in the business in terms of art and creativity.
Seriously, every time, I open one of his books, my breath is taken away. I don't buy many picture books, but I own just about everything William Joyce has put out. I can't say I am always a huge fan of his writing (I tend to think he has way too many words). But his ideas and art are just brilliant.
Anyway, with this one in particular, the end left a little to be desired, but the rest of the book was well worth the cover price. Quick review: 4 of 5 Stars (Art 5, Story 5, Ending 4, Originality 5).
Oh, and the added bonus, this is the book that Disney's animated movie Meet the Robinsons was based on. No wonder!
